New Beginings
(March 24, the year 2000)

The decison to start a web site was long in the making. Partly due to the standard daily dose of procrastination, but mainly due to a tight schedule of both professional and social events, the website was systematically delayed from one month to the next.
It has been a few years since we've been on the net, and it has been a bit of time since we've wanted to start a website.
And at last here it is, or at least the very start of it, an incomplete plan, a project always in the making, a small blue thing swimming with the sharks. This is home to a few projects and to a few toughts of friends and of myself, but also a statement on how things can be utterly simple and yet tremendously complex.

Why a website, you ask, and i ask "why not?".
A website because the web is a country?
A homepage because the net is home?
Both answers right, both answers wrong.
The web is more than a country, the web is the tip of an iceberg called "the world". The same way a sunset makes you wonder what lands lie behind the horizon, the web makes you wonder what worlds lie in physical reality behind the brightly coloured pages. There's nothing we want more than to know the hands that built the frames, the hands that painted and designed, the mind that chose the links that we now follow.
And can the net be home? Not really. You must have a very small life if it fits all inside the net. There's more to life than being online, but still, being online is very much a part of it.

So this is what we do and who we are. Random souls, suspicious minds, the hand that cradles and the ships that sails, everything reflected on your LCD screen, a world in a computer that sits on your lap, while you sit in a room with a view out to the world. Stop believing that this is another world, in here. It's all the same, online and off. So close the window on your screen and open the window in your room. Or better yet, open them both. Get a friend to open them with you. Grab a drink, a bite to eat while you both do it. And meanwhile, reach out and call someone, just to ask about the weather. Don't send an email, call. Or better yet, just get in the car and drive there. But be sure to bring a laptop along.  After all, what's the point in only enjoying half of life? :)
